James "Jimmy" Winfield is an associate professor at UCT. He has a Bachelor of Business Science, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, and a Master of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, which he received from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar. For more than a decade, Jimmy has been teaching courses in financial reporting, management accounting, and business ethics at UCT's College of Accounting, Philosophy Department and Graduate School of Business, for which he has received several awards including the National Excellence in Teaching & Learning Prize and the UCT Distinguished Teacher Award. Jimmy is also a co-founder of Skillfully, the home of world-class courses for high achievers.
Mark Graham is a UCT Emeritus Associate Professor. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1987, and between 1988 and 1993 held several senior financial positions with firms in the United Kingdom. During his almost three decades at UCT he taught on the CA programme within the College of Accounting, as well as finance, accounting, and integrated reporting on the MBA, EMBA and various Executive programs at the Graduate School of Business. He is a former Head of the College of Accounting at UCT. Mark has been involved with EY's Excellence in Reporting awards since its inception in 1997 and is the current chair of the adjudication panel for the annual EY's Excellence in Integrated Reporting awards.
Taryn Miller is an Associate Professor at UCT. Taryn has taught at UCT for over 15 years, initially as a financial accounting lecturer for undergraduate and postgraduate students. More recently, Taryn's involvement encompasses the College of Accounting's Masters programme and Professional programme for aspiring chartered accountants, which is the final educational component of their CA(SA) qualification journey. Taryn also has a PhD in Accounting, which investigated how universities can better develop the responsible leadership competencies of accounting students. In addition to this book, Taryn has published several teaching case studies and journal articles in highly rated journals.
